Amigdalotsakismata

Traditional Greek dance classes in Athens, with Panagiotis Liaropoulos.

The group

We dance in a circle

Amigdalotsakismata is a traditional Greek dance group in Athens. We learn the steps, the style and the spirit, and then take them out to village squares and festivals.

You do not need any experience to start. There are classes for complete beginners, for people who already dance with us, and for advanced dancers.

Places we have danced include:

  • Koumoundourou Square
  • Steni, Evia
  • Vytina, Arcadia
  • Paniqueeri festival

The teacher

Panagiotis Liaropoulos

Panagiotis, Panos to the group, teaches traditional Greek dance in Athens and leads the Amigdalotsakismata circle every week.

In his classes a dance is not a sequence of steps but something done together: hand in hand with the person beside you, with voices, with the company that stays on afterwards.
